🥚 Homemade Yorkshire Puddings
There is something truly special about a well-risen Yorkshire pudding. Crisp on the outside, light in the middle and perfect for soaking up gravy, they remain one of the nation's favourite side dishes. Whether served alongside a traditional roast dinner or enjoyed on their own, homemade Yorkshire puddings always seem to bring a little comfort to the table.
One of the reasons I love this recipe is its simplicity. Rather than relying on complicated measurements, I simply use a measuring jug and work with equal amounts of egg, flour and milk. It's easy to remember and produces reliable results time after time.

The Secret: Measure your eggs in a jug, then add exactly the same volume of plain flour and exactly the same volume of milk.
👨🍳 Method
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (200°C fan).
- Crack your eggs into a measuring jug and note the volume.
- Add the same volume of plain flour and the same volume of milk.
- Add a small pinch of salt.
- Whisk thoroughly until smooth and lump free.
- Leave the batter to rest for at least 30 minutes if time allows.
- Add a little oil to each compartment of your Yorkshire pudding tray.
- Place the tray into the oven until the oil is very hot.
- Carefully remove the tray and pour the batter evenly into each compartment.
- Return immediately to the oven and bake for 20–25 minutes until risen, crisp and beautifully golden.
- Avoid opening the oven door whilst cooking as this can affect the rise.
