Homemade Bread π₯β¨
A simple, soft, golden loaf β perfect for toast, sandwiches, or tearing warm from the oven.
Ingredients
- 500g strong white bread flour
- 7g fastβaction yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 300ml warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Optional: herbs (oregano, rosemary, thyme), garlic powder, chilli flakes, mixed seeds
Method
- Mix the dry ingredients: Add flour, yeast, salt and sugar to a large bowl.
- Add the liquids: Pour in warm water and olive oil. Mix until a rough dough forms.
- Knead: Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 8β10 minutes until smooth and stretchy.
- First rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape the loaf: Knock the air out, shape into a loaf and place into a tin or on a baking tray.
- Second rise: Cover and let rise again for 30β40 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 200Β°C. Bake for 25β30 minutes until golden and hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Cool: Allow to cool on a rack before slicing.
Extra flavour options πΏ
You can add herbs and seasoning for extra taste β try:
- Rosemary and sea salt
- Garlic powder and oregano
- Chilli flakes and smoked paprika
- Mixed seeds sprinkled on top before baking
