Home Made Fudge – Simple, Sweet & Reliable
Ingredients
- 397g tin condensed milk
- 120g butter
- 450g caster sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
Method
- Warm ingredients — Add condensed milk, caster sugar, and butter to a saucepan. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves.
- Bring to a boil — Turn up the heat and let it bubble for 10–12 minutes, stirring often.
- Beat until thick — Remove from heat, add vanilla, then beat for 3–5 minutes until the mixture thickens and loses its shine.
- Set in a tin — Pour into a lined tray, smooth the top, and let it cool completely.
- Slice into squares — Once firm, cut into neat pieces.
Why Caster Sugar Works Well
- Gives a lighter colour
- Makes the fudge slightly firmer
- Keeps the flavour clean and sweet
- Melts quickly → less chance of graininess

No Rules
There are no limits to fudge — add chocolate, swirl in caramel, mix in nuts, or keep it classic and sweet. Everyone makes fudge differently, and that’s the fun of it.
