🍊 Homemade Fresh Orange Juice
There is something incredibly refreshing about a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. Bright, naturally sweet and packed with flavour, it tastes worlds apart from many shop-bought versions. Best of all, it's surprisingly easy to make at home with just a few oranges and a simple electric juicer.
Making your own orange juice is one of those little kitchen pleasures that feels far more impressive than the effort involved. The fresh citrus aroma fills the kitchen and you know exactly what has gone into every glass.

🛒 Ingredients
- 6–8 fresh oranges
- Ice cubes (optional)
- Extra orange slices for serving (optional)
Makes: Approximately 750ml to 1 litre of fresh orange juice depending on the size and juiciness of the oranges.
👨🍳 Method
- Wash the oranges thoroughly and cut them in half.
- Use an electric citrus juicer to extract the juice from each orange.
- Continue juicing until all the oranges have been used.
- If you prefer a smoother juice, strain it through a sieve to remove some of the pulp.
- Pour into glasses over ice or transfer into clean bottles for storage.
- Store in the refrigerator and enjoy within the next few days for the best flavour.
💡 Rustic Tips
- An electric juicer makes the job much quicker and easier, especially when you're making larger batches.
- You don't need the most expensive juicer to get great results. Even a simple budget-friendly model can produce excellent fresh juice.
- Roll the oranges on the worktop before cutting them to help release more juice.
- Room-temperature oranges tend to produce more juice than those straight from the fridge.
- Freshly squeezed juice can be bottled and kept in the fridge for the next couple of days.
- If you enjoy pulp, skip the straining stage and keep all that natural texture.
🍽️ Serving Suggestion
Serve chilled over ice for breakfast, alongside brunch or simply as a refreshing drink any time of the day. A slice of orange on the rim of the glass makes it feel extra special.
🌿 Rustic Flow Note
Making your own orange juice is a lovely reminder that simple things are often the most enjoyable. There are no complicated ingredients, no special skills required and no need for expensive equipment. A handful of oranges and a basic electric juicer are often all you need. If you've got extra oranges to use up, turning them into fresh juice is a great way to reduce waste while creating something genuinely delicious. Homemade doesn't have to mean difficult. Sometimes it can be as simple as pressing a button and enjoying the results.
